This time at The Laundry I sit down with Sarah Schulman, a long time activist, and author of works like THE GENTRIFICATION OF THE MIND: WItness to a Lost Imagination, TIES THAT BIND: Familial Homophobia and Its Consequences, and several novels including the recently re-released mystery, AFTER DELORES.She was also the co-founder of the innovative direct action group, the Lesbian Avengers. We talk about a range of subjects, from the secrets of the group's success, which included innovative marketing and the growing desire of lesbians to be seen on their own terms, as part of the world. To how tough it is even now for lesbian writers to break into mainstream publishing.

Margarita López, we learn about her early activist life in Puerto Rico,
fighting U.S. recruiters grabbing her friends for Viet Nam, advocating for independence,
women, LGBT people, and homeless squatters. Unemployed, repeatedly dyke-bashed,
she moved to New York City and became a housing activist, working for the
Latino community, sometimes at odds with their homophobia.
