In this interview with former New York City councilmember and out Latina lesbian, Margarita López, we learn about her early activist life in Puerto Rico, fighting U.S. recruiters grabbing her friends for Viet Nam, advocating for independence, women, LGBT people, and homeless squatters. Unemployed, repeatedly dyke-bashed, she moved to New York City and became a housing activist, working for the Latino community, sometimes at odds with their homophobia.
